Dr. Serafettin Gedik earned his Ph.D. in K–12 Educational Administration from Michigan State University. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) in Dubai, where he teaches graduate-level courses on emerging technologies, applied research methods, and innovative curriculum leadership, and supervises master’s and doctoral research.

His current research focuses on how the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies are shaping schools and school leadership. He seeks to support school leaders in guiding this transformation by updating their practices, policies, and community engagement in ways that meet the demands of this digital era. Building on his earlier work on inclusive education, parental involvement, and policy implementation, his research now integrates technology-driven perspectives to explore how smart learning, innovation, and evidence-based leadership can create inclusive, future-ready educational systems aligned with the UAE’s vision.

Before joining HBMSU, Dr. Gedik served nearly six years as an Assistant Professor at Amasya University in Türkiye, where he also held administrative roles as Director of the Domestic Student Exchange Program and Assistant Director of the Graduate School of Social Sciences. Prior to his university appointment, he worked at the Amasya Provincial Directorate of National Education in the Research and Development Department, where he designed and implemented professional development programs for school administrators. Earlier in his career, he taught undergraduate courses as an Instructor at Michigan State University, where he also completed his doctoral studies.
