Overview
Honoring excellence in academic contributions to the field of Total Quality Management
Named after Dr. H. James Harrington, one of the world’s most renowned thought leaders in TQM, this award is a tribute to his immense contributions in advancing the discipline and helping organizations worldwide improve their quality practices. The award recognizes Master’s students whose dissertations or projects have made unique contributions to the development and application of TQM concepts, best practices, and organizational excellence.
The award is administered in two strands:
- European Version: Managed by the European Centre of TQM at the University of Bradford (UK), covering students from the European Universities Network (EUN-TQM).
- Arab World Version: Managed by Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU), Dubai.
How to Submit?
Open to Master’s students who have successfully completed and defended their thesis or project within the eligibility period outlined in the award guidelines. Only formal academic dissertations or projects are considered.
Each nomination must be formally endorsed by the Program Director and supported by a signed request from the student’s supervisor. Submission materials must include:
- Formal endorsement by the Program Director and supervisor.
- A written abstract/summary (1000–1500 words) by the student.
- Table of contents of the thesis.
- Letter from department head/major professor on significance, contribution, and impact.
- Copies (original + eight) of all materials submitted.
- Evaluation criteria include originality, significance, methodology, overall quality, and contribution to the program.
- Deadline for Application: 31 December 2021
- Award Includes: Certificate of Award and The Harrington Medal
